Lewis County Community Concerts is excited to announce that we have raised over $10,000 to be given out in scholarships to musical students from Lewis County to enable them to continue their musical education. Our organization is also committed to helping students who have qualified for State Competitions. We offer $250 scholarships to help defray the cost of attending the competition. We were able to assist an Onalaska student again this year and hope to spread the word and help send many more students to competition next year! This season Lewis County Community Concerts was able to offer assemblies featuring BOTH THE CALIFORNIA GUITAR TRIO AND THE FRENCH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA at different community schools.
Providing workshops and scholarships for Lewis County students are educational goals of Lewis County Community Concerts that are being realized in the community.
Lewis County Community Concerts is pleased to announce the award of $8500 in 2006-07 scholarships to deserving music students from our community,in addition to $2000 donated to Centralia College for scholarships to that educational institution.
Our organization has been able to assist Charlie Albright, our local piano virtuoso, attend national competitions in past years. Two years ago he received first place honors at the national competition and has now begun his college career...CONGRATULATIONS CHARLIE !
On March 28, 2008, lucky audience members were treated to an amazing performance by Charlie at Corbet Theater. His talent and skills are amazing and he continues to impress all who hear him. He has recently been selected from over 400 applicants to be one of 3 US pianists to travel to Australia in a group of 32 to study. He is currently attending Harvard college in a joint program with the New England Conservatory of Music. The proceeds of this extra concert performance will go to scholarship awards to both Charlie and Centralia College Foundation. Don't miss out on future special concerts.
